A very small café tucked into the front half of the roastery on NW 23rd. We open at seven, we close when the pastries run out, and we'd love it if you came by without a laptop.
The café is attached to the roastery — same roof, same building, a glass wall between. You can sit at the counter and watch Mabel (our 1978 Probat) turn. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can smell the roast before you see it.
Twelve seats, two baristas, one gaggia la scala espresso machine we bought used from a restaurant in San Francisco that was closing. No rewards app. No loyalty punch card. If you come in often enough we'll remember your drink.
We don't have wifi. We don't not-have wifi on principle — we just never got around to setting it up, and then people started saying they liked it that way. So here we are.
✱ A note about laptops
"We don't forbid them — we just didn't wire the café for all-day coworking. Two outlets total. No wifi. A twelve-seat room. Bring a book, or a friend, or nothing at all"
Metered street parking on NW 23rd. Two two-hour spots directly in front. Streetcar stop at NW 23rd & Lovejoy, two blocks away.
Single step at the entrance, 6". Single-user accessible restroom in the back. Service animals always welcome.
